Brief description of the CDST

Organization: Community development society for thought and culture (CDST) is a civic, non-profit Palestinian society located in Hebron City and registered in the ministry of interior on August 27.2007 under the license number (HB-452-SD) according to the law of the Palestinian civic and charitable societies number (1) for the year (2000), and registered by the ministry of justice as a ministry of specialization. The society (CDST) has a general assembly, elected board (headed by a Palestinian woman), and an executive board and a voluntary director who is assisted by the executive committee from the volunteers on implementing the administration board decisions and the plan of action.

Vision:

The society (CDST) is looking forward to create a generation of children and youth (males and females) that believe in democratic practices, forgiveness, respect differences, and reject domestic violence in addition to violence at schools and on streets in an environment where women are respected and given a chance to play an important role in society.

Mission:

The society(CDST) aims to improve the general participation in the community  for both youth and children and to enable women socially and culturally in order to support her in taking the lead in decision making in the community and to be equally represented within the beneficiaries, the administration, and the employees of the (CDST). This will be conducted through training programs, workshops, and lobbies where both children and youth (males and females) participate in democratic practices, gender equality, forgiveness, and dialogue reaching social justice.

Ethics and values:

-         The society (CDST) believes in social justice among individuals, and the right of the individual in participation and in using the democratic methods as a mean of achieving it.

-         The society believes in the importance of youth role in the community changing process.

-         The Society (CDST) is committed to strengthening gender balance, woman enabling, and facing the harmful practices.

-         The Society (CDST) believes in the rights of children and to enjoy their rights according to the international children rights agreement.

-         The Society (CDST) assures on the participation of women and youth in running the Society (CDST) and implementing it's programs and activities.

Main goals:

-         Enhancing the local community role in developing the community policies.

-         Enhancing the democratic values and participation in the local community.

-         Enhancing and supporting the youth participation in community development.

-         Encouraging dialogue and respect the differences between others.

-         Enabling and enhancing it's her role in decision making.

-         Spreading the culture of forgiveness.

-         Training the children on their rights and enjoy a happy childhood.
